A tablet is a portable device whose capabilities and form-factor are between smartphones and personal computers. Most tablets start with screen size of 7 inches. That’s why some tablets are called “tablet PCs” where as some are called “Phablets”, a term coined from Phone and tablet. If you are a busy traveling executive, then a tablet is a must have device. You can carry your presentations, sales pitches and documents on a light, portable, battery efficient device. If you also have kids at home, a tablet could prove to be a great entertainment or educational tool with the right apps. Tablets are not designed for voice calls or even taking pictures. The Apple iPad for instance doesn’t have voice calling capabilities. But some users still insist on making voice calls and taking photos with their tablets. Here are some of the tablets in Uganda and their current prices.
Apple iPad
There are a number of tablet brands in the market today. But the undisputed king of them of all( you guessed who) is the Apple iPad. The iPad has the most number of apps specifically designed for a tablet. It has a great solid metal design with round edges that feels right to hold in the hands. The Apple iPad however doesn’t support traditional voice calls and SMS without Jail-breaking it. That’s why Whatsapp isn’t supported on the iPad. Yeah, such a bummer I know. The iPad also doesn’t give you much freedom to customize your user experience. Apple believes want they give you is enough to get whatever you need to be done done. Now there are a number of vendors that carry the Apple iPad and they include Airtel, MTN, Jumia Uganda, Elite computers who are also one of the authorized Apple resellers in Uganda. But Huawei’s Mediapad is also gaining traction among users. Android tablets have you lots of flexibility and customization compared to the Apple iPad, not to mention wide price range. Some even support voice calling right out the box and have great front/rear cameras for taking photos. But most android tablets also come with lots of bloat-ware (extra “unnecessary” apps from the vendor) that makes the experience clumsy. Their design isn’t as premium as that of the Apple iPad.
