According to the NIRA Executive Director, the trucks are fully equipped with tools to provide on spot registration services and also conduct community mobilization drives. In her handover comments, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine expressed her joy at the delivery of the vehicles and observed that they would go a long way in improving maternal and child health services. Birth registration provides confirmation of the event of the birth of a child and is the first form of identification. The trucks are intended to be used as mobile platforms to take services closer to communities through outreaches and routine registration activities. The outreaches shall be targeting populations in underserved districts or regions especially those with large and longer distances between communities and NIRA service points. It includes densely populated areas that may not be ably covered under the routine district registration centers. The support shall also target areas with special community groups like refugees and communities that may be disadvantaged by natural calamities.
